The Client

Pilgrim’s Pride UK is one of the country’s leading food manufacturers, producing a diverse range of high-quality fresh chicken, pork, lamb, ready meals, and snack products across a nationwide network of production facilities. Operating in a highly regulated food manufacturing environment, the business relies on efficient, uninterrupted operations to meet customer demand while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance.

Supporting these operations are more than 100 industrial door assets installed across multiple sites. These doors play a vital role in maintaining hygiene standards, controlling temperature-sensitive environments, protecting production areas, and ensuring the smooth movement of personnel and goods throughout each facility. Any failure or prolonged downtime has the potential to disrupt production schedules, compromise environmental controls, and increase operational costs.

To safeguard business continuity and minimise the risk of unplanned disruption, Pilgrim’s Pride required a trusted maintenance partner capable of delivering a comprehensive, nationwide service. The solution needed to combine planned preventative maintenance with rapid reactive support, ensuring faults could be resolved quickly while extending the lifespan of critical assets. In addition, the business sought a long-term asset management strategy that would provide greater visibility of its industrial door estate, support future investment decisions, and help maintain compliance with stringent food industry standards.

By partnering with an experienced maintenance provider, Pilgrim’s Pride aimed to improve asset reliability, reduce operational downtime, enhance site safety, and ensure its industrial door infrastructure continued to support efficient production across its UK manufacturing network.

“Engineers were very personable and the doors were professionally installed..”

Our Solution

For the past four years, Tekta has worked in partnership with Pilgrim’s Pride UK to provide a comprehensive industrial door maintenance and asset management service across multiple manufacturing sites. The relationship has been built on a proactive maintenance strategy, combining bi-annual planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits with rapid reactive repairs and targeted improvement projects to ensure the continued reliability and performance of critical door assets.

Throughout the partnership, Tekta has carried out scheduled servicing on more than 100 industrial door assets, helping to identify potential issues before they develop into costly failures. This preventative approach has reduced the risk of unplanned downtime while supporting Pilgrim’s Pride’s stringent hygiene standards, temperature-controlled environments and efficient production processes.

In addition to planned maintenance, Tekta has responded to 115 reactive call-outs, providing a fast and reliable response to minimise operational disruption and return critical access points to service as quickly as possible. This responsive support has helped maintain production continuity across busy manufacturing facilities where downtime can have significant operational and commercial impacts.

Over the course of the contract, Pilgrim’s Pride has invested approximately £162,000 in planned servicing, reactive call-outs and remedial works, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant and reliable industrial door estate. Alongside this, a further £185,000 has been invested in capital improvement projects, including upgrades and replacements designed to enhance asset performance, improve reliability and extend operational lifespan.

By combining preventative maintenance, responsive engineering support and strategic asset improvements, Tekta has helped Pilgrim’s Pride maximise the performance of its industrial door infrastructure, protect food safety and temperature-controlled environments, reduce operational risk and ensure the long-term reliability of critical assets across its UK manufacturing estate.
