The Brief

Green Mountain Data Centre required a specialist industrial door package for its new-build facility in Romford, designed to meet the demanding operational, security and environmental requirements of a modern data centre. As a critical digital infrastructure facility, the site needed robust access solutions that would provide high levels of physical security, thermal efficiency and long-term reliability while supporting the uninterrupted operation of mission-critical systems.

Industrial doors play a vital role within a data centre environment, helping to protect sensitive equipment, maintain internal climate control and facilitate the secure movement of personnel and equipment. The selected door systems therefore needed to deliver dependable day-to-day performance, minimise heat loss, withstand frequent operation and contribute to the overall resilience of the building’s infrastructure.

Valued at approximately £67,000, the project required the design, supply and installation of a bespoke package of industrial door systems tailored to the specific operational needs of the facility. Working alongside the principal contractor and wider project team, Tekta coordinated its installation programme to align with the overall construction schedule, ensuring that works were delivered safely, efficiently and without impacting other trades on site.

Throughout the project, close collaboration and careful planning enabled the door installations to be completed to a high standard while meeting programme milestones and quality expectations. The completed solution provides Green Mountain with secure, high-performance access systems that enhance building security, improve thermal performance and offer the durability and reliability required for continuous operation in a critical data centre environment. Tekta was responsible for the design, supply and installation of a complete industrial door package for the new Green Mountain Data Centre, delivering a solution that combined security, durability and thermal performance to meet the demanding requirements of the facility.

The installation comprised 18 Traffidor Pass steel personnel doors and 6 Rollashield Isoroll insulated roller shutters, strategically positioned throughout the building to provide secure access, controlled movement of goods and effective separation between operational areas. Each element of the package was selected to complement the building’s performance requirements while supporting the day-to-day operation of a mission-critical environment.

The Traffidor Pass steel personnel doors offer a robust and durable access solution, manufactured from high-quality steel to withstand frequent use while providing enhanced security and long-term reliability. Designed for commercial and industrial applications, the doors deliver excellent resistance to wear and impact, helping to reduce maintenance requirements while maintaining a professional finish throughout the facility.

Complementing these, the Rollashield Isoroll insulated roller shutters provide secure, high-performance access for larger openings while delivering excellent thermal insulation. Their insulated curtain construction helps minimise heat transfer, supporting the building’s environmental controls and improving overall energy efficiency. The shutters also offer smooth, reliable operation and are designed to withstand the demands of high-frequency use, making them ideally suited to a modern data centre where operational continuity is paramount.

Working closely with the principal contractor, Tekta coordinated the installation programme to ensure all doors were fitted safely, on schedule and in line with the wider construction programme. The completed door package not only met the project’s technical and operational requirements but also contributed to the overall resilience and efficiency of the facility.
