The Brief

Butternut Box appointed Tekta to supply and install a specialist high-speed door package as part of the development of its food production facility. Valued at £242,000, the package comprised 15 high-speed doors, including eight Rapidor Freeze doors and seven Rapidor Chill doors, providing a tailored solution for the facility’s temperature-controlled processing, production and storage areas.

The Rapidor Freeze and Rapidor Chill doors were selected to support the demanding environmental requirements of a modern food manufacturing operation. Their rapid opening and closing cycles help maintain effective separation between different temperature zones, minimising temperature fluctuations and reducing energy loss while allowing personnel, equipment and products to move efficiently throughout the facility. The combination of freezer and chiller door systems provided Butternut Box with a reliable solution designed to support consistent environmental control, hygiene and efficient day-to-day production.

Tekta worked in close partnership with DDK Projects and the wider construction team throughout the programme, carefully coordinating the supply and installation of each door system with surrounding works. This collaborative approach ensured the specialist package was integrated effectively into the facility while maintaining progress against the wider construction schedule. The completed installation provides Butternut Box with a robust, energy-efficient and reliable high-speed door solution designed to support long-term operational performance within a demanding temperature-controlled food production environment.

“Consistently good relationship with Tekta since they installed our doors.”

Our Solution

Working collaboratively with DDK Projects, Tekta carefully planned and coordinated the installation of the specialist high-speed door package for Butternut Box, ensuring the works remained aligned with the wider construction programme. With multiple trades operating across the facility, effective communication and detailed scheduling were essential to ensure each door could be installed safely and efficiently while maintaining progress across the development.

A key challenge involved sequencing the door installation around the facility’s conveyor systems, which had already been fitted before Tekta commenced its installation works. This required careful planning to manage restricted access and ensure the high-speed doors could be positioned and installed without disrupting the conveyor infrastructure or impacting surrounding trades. Tekta worked closely with DDK Projects and the wider project team to coordinate these activities, successfully integrating the doors within the production environment while minimising disruption to the construction schedule.

The Rapidor Freeze and Rapidor Chill high-speed doors were selected to provide fast, reliable operation alongside excellent thermal performance within Butternut Box’s chilled and frozen areas. Their rapid opening and closing cycles help maintain temperature integrity between controlled zones, reducing unnecessary energy loss while supporting the efficient movement of products throughout the facility. The completed installation provides Butternut Box with a robust and dependable solution that supports temperature control, energy efficiency and continuous product flow, demonstrating Tekta’s expertise in delivering specialist door systems within complex food manufacturing environments.
