Project Brief
Bradford Swissport required the replacement of two ageing loading bay dock shelters at its busy air cargo facility to improve weather protection, temperature control and loading efficiency.
The project involved upgrading both loading bays with a modern dock shelter solution designed to create a more effective seal between the building and delivery vehicles. With the facility handling vehicles of varying sizes, the new shelters needed to provide flexibility while maintaining reliable protection around the loading area.
The improved sealing helps protect goods and personnel from wind, rain and changing external temperatures during loading and unloading. It also reduces heat loss and unwanted air movement, supporting better temperature stability and energy efficiency within the facility.
The completed upgrade provides Bradford Swissport with a robust, efficient loading bay solution suited to the demanding requirements of a busy air cargo operation.
“The service was excellent, to have both done in one day was fantastic. They worked around our staff and deliveries very well. We are very impressed.”
Our Solution
Tekta replaced two existing dock shelters with Prodok Seal Inflatable Dock Shelters, providing Bradford Swissport with a modern, high-performance sealing solution designed for the demands of its busy air cargo facility.
The new shelters feature inflatable side and head cushions that expand around the vehicle once it is positioned at the loading bay. This creates a close, consistent seal around a range of vehicle sizes, helping to minimise gaps between the vehicle and the building throughout loading and unloading operations.
By creating a more effective seal, the Prodok system significantly reduces heat loss and limits the movement of external air into the facility. It also provides enhanced protection against rain, dust and pest ingress, helping to maintain a cleaner and more controlled loading environment while supporting stable internal temperatures.
This improved temperature control is particularly beneficial when handling temperature-sensitive goods, reducing their exposure to changing external conditions during transfer between the warehouse and vehicles. The inflatable design also provides the flexibility required for frequent vehicle movements without compromising the effectiveness of the seal.
The completed upgrade has improved the efficiency, protection and overall performance of both loading bays, providing Bradford Swissport with a reliable and durable solution that supports the day-to-day demands of its air cargo operations.
