Industrial Door Solutions for Warner Brothers

Project Brief

Tekta was appointed by PRS Contracts to supply and install a specialist industrial door package as part of the ongoing renovation of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. The £43,000 project involved the replacement of an existing door solution, with Tekta brought on board after the client had lost confidence in the previous supplier.

Working closely with PRS Contracts, Tekta was tasked with providing a reliable, high-performance replacement capable of meeting the demanding operational requirements of the refurbished studio facility. With the openings subject to frequent use, the new door systems needed to provide rapid access while maintaining effective environmental separation, thermal performance and security.

Following consideration of the requirements, two Rapidor Dupli combination doors were selected. By integrating two complementary door technologies within a single system, the solution offered the speed and flexibility required during day-to-day operations together with a robust security barrier when the openings were not in use.

The project presented Tekta with an opportunity to resolve the shortcomings of the previous installation and provide the client with greater confidence in the long-term performance and reliability of its industrial door systems.

Tekta supplied and installed two Rapidor Dupli combination doors, each bringing together a high-speed, self-repairing fabric door and an insulated steel roller shutter within a single coordinated system.

During normal operation, the high-speed fabric door provides rapid access while creating an effective hygiene and temperature barrier between internal and external areas. Capable of opening at speeds of up to 2.5m/s, the system minimises the amount of time each opening remains exposed, helping to maintain internal conditions while supporting the efficient movement of people, equipment and materials through high-traffic areas.

The high-speed door incorporates a zipper-edge curtain with self-repairing technology. If the curtain is displaced from its guides following an accidental impact, it is designed to automatically realign during the next operating cycle. This reduces the potential for downtime and unnecessary maintenance interventions, making the system particularly well suited to high-use external openings.

When the opening is not required, the integrated insulated steel roller shutter provides an additional layer of thermal performance and enhanced physical security. Combining both door types within one system allows the facility to benefit from high-speed operation throughout the working day without compromising security when areas are closed or inactive.

Working collaboratively with PRS Contracts throughout the project, Tekta coordinated the installation to integrate with the wider studio refurbishment programme. The completed package provides Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden with a durable and versatile solution designed around the demands of a busy operational environment.

By successfully replacing the previous door solution with a reliable, high-performance alternative, Tekta helped restore confidence in this critical element of the facility while demonstrating its capability to resolve challenging industrial door requirements on high-profile refurbishment projects.
