Project Brief

Tekta was appointed to supply and install a comprehensive loading bay and specialist door package for the new Refrigerated Cargo Terminal (RCT), forming part of the Port of Dover’s major Western Docks Revival project.

The package included 20 loading bays, alongside hinged doors, high-speed doors, fire doors and insulated level access doors. Each element was selected to meet the operational, thermal and safety requirements of a modern temperature-controlled logistics facility, supporting the efficient movement of goods while maintaining effective separation between different areas of the terminal.

Covering approximately 9,630m², the new Refrigerated Cargo Terminal has been developed to accommodate growing cargo volumes passing through the Port of Dover and strengthen its temperature-controlled handling capabilities. The facility features eight independently controlled chambers, capable of operating at temperatures between +1°C and +14°C to accommodate a variety of temperature-sensitive products.

Maintaining stable conditions throughout loading, storage and distribution is essential within refrigerated logistics. Tekta’s loading bay and door solutions help minimise temperature fluctuations and energy loss while supporting fast, efficient vehicle and personnel movements throughout the facility.

The completed package contributes to a modern, flexible and high-performance cargo terminal, providing the infrastructure required to support efficient cold-chain operations and the Port of Dover’s growing refrigerated cargo requirements.

Our Solution

Tekta delivered the complete specialist door package for the facility, including all associated loading bay equipment, providing an integrated solution designed for the demands of a modern temperature-controlled logistics environment.

Sectional overhead doors formed a key part of the package and were specified to provide high levels of thermal insulation alongside reliable operational performance. Their robust construction and effective sealing help minimise heat transfer and temperature fluctuations, supporting improved energy efficiency and consistent internal conditions.

Tekta also coordinated the loading bay equipment to ensure each element worked effectively as part of the wider facility. The solutions were selected to withstand frequent use while supporting the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, goods and personnel.

The completed installation provides a durable and efficient loading infrastructure, supporting temperature control, operational efficiency and dependable long-term performance within a busy refrigerated cargo environment.
