Industrial Doors for Virtus Data Centres

The Brief

Tekta was appointed to supply and install the complete external door package for VIRTUS Data Centres’ Saunderton Campus, working closely with Ashton Smith Architects and TSL to deliver a robust and reliable access solution across this major data centre development. Delivered over a two-month programme, Tekta’s £137,000 package formed part of the wider construction of LON15, LON16, LON17 and LON18.

The specialist package comprised 36 Traffidor Pass steel personnel doors and three Rollashield Steelroll roller shutters, providing secure and durable external access across the four data centre buildings. The systems were selected to meet the demanding operational requirements of a mission-critical environment, where security, reliability and long-term performance are fundamental to the successful operation of the facility.

The Traffidor Pass personnel doors provide robust access at key points throughout the campus, combining high-quality steel construction with the durability required to withstand frequent use and exposure to external conditions. Complementing the personnel doors, the Rollashield Steelroll shutters provide secure, dependable closure solutions for larger openings, helping create a cohesive external door package across the development.

Careful coordination with Ashton Smith Architects, TSL and the wider construction team was essential to ensure the package integrated effectively with the building design and surrounding works. Tekta managed the supply and installation programme across all four facilities, maintaining progress in line with the wider construction schedule throughout the two-month delivery period.

The works formed part of VIRTUS Data Centres’ 50-acre Saunderton Campus, an extensive development designed to deliver 78MW of IT load across four data centres. Engineered to support high-density deployments exceeding 100kW per rack, the campus required infrastructure capable of meeting significant performance and operational demands.

Through the successful delivery of the external door package, Tekta contributed to a highly resilient data centre campus, providing secure, durable and reliable access solutions designed to support the long-term operational requirements of LON15, LON16, LON17 and LON18.

Alongside the personnel doors, Tekta supplied and installed Rollashield Steelroll shutters to protect larger external service openings. Offering a combination of strength, security and reliable operation, the shutters provide robust protection for critical service areas while allowing efficient access when required.

Close collaboration with the construction team enabled Tekta to coordinate installation activities around other trades and key programme milestones. This proactive approach helped minimise disruption, maintain progress and ensure the complete package was installed to the required standards within the agreed two-month programme.
